What color is October Mist?

October Mist is a wonderful calm sage green color shade that will work beautifully in most interior spaces. Forget about grey and white. Sage green is the new neutral for 2022. It will add a sense of calm and the natural elements that we are all craving.

What goes with October Mist?

Because it is a soft neutral shade, don’t be afraid to branch out! This trending paint color pairs well with many interior design styles. Pair this color with Modern Farmhouse color palettes, Mid-Century Modern color palettes, Transitional styles and beyond. In fact all of you with those tired 90s homes in need of an update, the Color of the Year will work beautifully. Try this shade on your walls or on your kitchen island or vanity cabinet and it will update your spaces and it will bring new life to your honey oak and other outdated wood tones.

Yes, green can be neutral!

The 2022 pick for Color of the Year, October Mist, is described by the brand as “a gently shaded sage that quietly anchors while encouraging creative expression through color.” Though green, the shade is mild enough to act as a neutral.

And, if you’ve noticed that green is popping up, well, everywhere, you aren’t alone. In fact, Sherwin Williams announced a similar color of the year recently for 2022, Evergreen Fog SW-9130.

Appropriately titled for it’s timely Color of the Year announcement, the soft, sage, calming, green paint color “quietly anchors while encouraging creative expression through color,” reads a company press release.

    1. Hi Melody! Thank you for your question, and it is an important one that most don’t think about. If you are wanting to paint the ceiling something other than the standard ceiling bright white, then I would choose a lighter color than the walls by two to three shades on the fan deck. In this case I’d try a sample of OC-137 Sebring White. They key being to first sample it on a board (2-3 coats) and see how you like it in the light of day and at night. I hope this helps!
